Bellewstown Races Live

Located in the village of Bellewstown with views of the Mourne Mountains and the Irish Sea, Bellewstown is one of the more scenic racecourses in Ireland and thanks to its local feel it is one of the most friendly- it’s a track where everybody knows everybody and racing is engrained in the local community.

That’s not surprising though due to the long history of horse racing in Bellewstown where racing can be traced back to 1720, making Bellewstown one of the oldest horse racing courses in the world.

Bellewstown offers both Flat horse racing and National Hunt racing and whilst it is the winter months were many Irish horse racecourses host their main meetings it is in the summer when Bellewstown excels with the 3 day Bellewstown Festival in July been arguably the best racing of the season at Bellewstown.

100% Legal Live Streams

All of the live horse racing streams featured on GGTV are 100% legal and 100% safe. Many websites feature illegal streams that simply steal the content direct from the likes of At The Races and Racing UK and whilst there may be a small cost to watch the races via legal streams (but let’s face it you are likely to be betting on the action anyway!) you can be sure that there are no computer viruses and/or other nasty’s infecting your computer/phone/tablet when watching.

So How is GGTV Different?

The streams that we feature here on GGTV are offered by bookmakers who have paid for the rights to bring you live horse racing action, so you can watch races that you have bet on.

What Can You Watch?

Different bookies have different services with some only focusing on the UK and Ireland whilst some bring you the action from all around the world. If you are after a specific race, please visit our preview section or for all races from a specific track, check out our track guides.

Watch Racing From Bellewstown Live

Whilst a horse racing track with lots of history that is a huge part of the community it serves, it is fair to say that whilst an important part of Irish racing, it is only a small part as the course only offer 2 race meetings a year.

The good news is that each and every race from the course is available to watch live via our Bellewstown live stream partners.

The course is in many ways a community course and whilst it only offers the very basics that a fan could want, including a small grandstand, the course is known for been one of the friendlier venues in the sport and for attracting more casual fans as people from the local area come for the day out.

That adds to the atmosphere of the course and to the experience for all involved but most interesting from our point of view, it comes across in the action you watch.

The course cannot match the prize funds of most other tracks, that laid back and friendly nature does see it attract a number of younger horses who owners and trainers are looking to prove themselves as well as jockeys who are looking to stand out and make a name for themselves.

Located in County Meath in the Republic of Ireland, the course is close to Navan and has a lot of ties to that course with owners, trainers, horses and jockeys based in and around that course making the trip down the road for the races at Bellewstown.

Unfortunately as a smaller course, the track often goes overlooked on tv with race soften hard to find even if you have an expensive and ongoing subscription to pay tv racing channels but the great news for racing fans is that all of the action can be watched live online via our live streaming partners.

All of the Bellewstown live steam services that appear on this page bring you each race live and best of all you can pick and choose just the races that you want to watch.

There is a wagering requirement that must be met before you can watch the race but the chances are that if you are wanting to watch races from Bellewstown live, you are also interesting in betting on the races.

With that in mind, it simply makes sense to choose one of the great service on this page and bet at a bookies that allow you to watch along live and to cheer on your chosen horse at it races around Bellewstown racecourse and hopefully onto victory.

If you have already bet on the action at the course and your chosen bookie does not allow you to watch along live, make sure your next bet is with one of the bookies on this page.

Yellow Sam

As one of the smaller racecourses in Ireland and with no headlines races to gain mainstream attention over on these shores, the track is arguably most famous to racing fans for its role in the iconic Yellow Sam betting coup.

On the 26th of June 1975 and rag-tag group including a professional gambler, a failed pub owner, an entrepreneur and a former pop band manager pulled off one of racing in Irelands biggest coup when they took advantage of an under-handicapped horse, known perhaps unsurprisingly as Yellow Sam.

The horse was known as a ‘slow but steady’ racer that was owned by Bernard Joseph Curley, who was the professional gambler involved in the cup.

The main aim for its trainer was to run at the obscure National Hunt race at Bellewstown and to make sure it ran with a light handicap, the horse only raced at a series of smaller races, at other tracks, which had unfavourable conditions for Yellow Sam.

That saw the horse arrive at the track on that faithful day in 1976 with a light handicap and with starting odds of 20/1.

With the provincial track only services by 2 phone lines and with no mobile phones in those days the fact that big money was been placed on the horse could not be communicated quickly and that allowed those ‘in the know’ to pick up vast sums of money.

It is estimated that the coup costs bookies around £2,000,000 whilst those who orchestrated it took home around £300,000 (around E1,700,000 in todays money).
