Sandown Park Races Live

Sandown Park has a long of fascinating history with the course opening in 1875. Sandown Park was one of the first horse racing tracks to charge for all of those in attendance. The first meeting was a 3-day event that start on Thursday 22nd April 1875 and featured the Grand National Hunt Chase, which is now part of the Cheltenham Festival.

Despite loosing races such as that, the course is still home to many notable races with the Eclipse Stakes, a Group 1 flat race run in July over 1 mile, 2 furlongs and 7 yards, the most famous.

There are a number of other notable races run at the course including top flat races including the Sandown Mile 9a group 2 race run over 1 mile and 14 yards), the Sandown Classic Trial (a group 3 race run over 1 mile, 2 furlongs and 7 furlongs), the Gordon Richards Stakes (a group 3 race run over 1 mile, 2 furlongs and 7 yards), the Esher Cup (a handicap race run over 1 mile and 14 yards), the Henry II Stakes (a group 3 race run over 2 miles and 78 yards), the Brigadier Gerard Stakes (a group 3 race run over 2 miles and 78 yards), the National Stakes (run over 5 furlongs and 6 yards), the Heron Stakes (run over 1 mile ad 14 yards), the Whitsun Stakes (run over 1 mile and 14 yards), the Sprint Stakes (a group 3 race run over 5 furlongs and 6 yards), the Atalanta Stakes (a group 3 race run over 1 mile and 14 yards) and the Solario Stakes (a group 3 race run over 7 furlongs and 16 yards).
