Cartmel Races Live

The race with the biggest prize fund at Cartmel is the Cumbria Crystal Hurdle Race (run at the 2 day July festival) whilst other big races include the Cartmel Cup (over hurdles) and the Cavendish Cup (a steeplechase run over fences), which are run at the August bank holiday meeting.

Due to the huge crowds and small nature of the course, the meetings at Cartmel have down days to allow for cleaning and other aspects needed to host racing.

The course is fame for its steeplechase course which features a four furlong run in, which is the longest in Britain. The course only features National Hunt racing, with hurdle races having a much smaller run in.
