The Champion Stakes is a Group 1 flat race held at the iconic Ascot race course as part of the British Champions Day in October each year.

The race is open to all thoroughbreds, aged 3 or older and is run over 1 mile and 2 furlongs (2,102 meters).

Interestingly the 1882, 1884 and 1933 running’s of the race were dead heats with joint winners.

The race is now run over 1 mile and 2 furlongs, which equates to 2,012 metres) at Ascot Racecourse on a turf surface and is open to three year olds and up.
