Gold Cup Live

The Gold Cup is a group 1 flat race run over a distance of 2 miles and 4 furlongs (4023 meters) at the iconic Ascot racecourse.

The race is scheduled to take place in June each year and is famous as a race for ‘stayers’ due to its distance.

The Gold Cup is run as part of the prestigious Royal Ascot Meeting, normally taking place on the 3rd day (also known as Ladies Day) and it is always one of the star attractions of the meet.

The Gold Cup was first run way back in 1807, which gives it the same sort of prestige as the big ‘Classics’ but in recent times the race has overtaken many for popularity due to been part of ‘Royal Ascot’.

The Gold cup now attracts horse from around the world and from the world’s top stables which adds an extra level of excitement to the action.

100% Legal Live Streams

All of the live horse racing streams featured on GGTV are 100% legal and 100% safe. Many websites feature illegal streams that simply steal the content direct from the likes of At The Races and Racing UK and whilst there may be a small cost to watch the races via legal streams (but let’s face it you are likely to be betting on the action anyway!) you can be sure that there are no computer viruses and/or other nasty’s infecting your computer/phone/tablet when watching.

So How is GGTV Different?

The streams that we feature here on GGTV are offered by bookmakers who have paid for the rights to bring you live horse racing action, so you can watch races that you have bet on.

What Can You Watch?

Different bookies have different services with some only focusing on the UK and Ireland whilst some bring you the action from all around the world. If you are after a specific race, please visit our preview section or for all races from a specific track, check out our track guides.

You can also click on the bookies in the table above for all the info you need.

Watch Ascot Gold Cup Live

The Ascot Gold Cup is a race full of prestige and history thanks in part to been in existence ever since its inauguration in 1807 and thanks to taking place at the iconic Royal Ascot festival of racing.

The race attracts many of the sports best stayers, or horses known for their stamina and for been able to race over longer distances, with the current iteration of the race been run over 2 miles, 3 furlongs and 210 yards (or 4014 metres if you prefer).

Whilst known by most as the Ascot Gold Cup, the race is actually officially named the Gold Cup but due to confusion with the race of the same name held as part of the Cheltenham Festival, it is best to separate the 2.

So no matter if you know it as the Gold Cup, the Ascot Gold Cup or the Gold Cup at Ascot, the race is one of the biggest a best races on the British racing calendar and one that is popular with fans across the world.

The Gold Cup is the first leg of the British Stayers Triple Crown, along with the Goodwood Cup and the Doncaster Cup but that award has not been picked up since Double Trigger won all 3 in 1995.

The Gold Cup is just one of 3 trophies at Royal Ascot which can be kept by their owners alongside the Royal Hunt Cup and the Queen’s Vase.

As you would expect from such a prestigious race with such a long
history, the Gold Cup has a number of interesting titbits from its past including the first race, which was won by Master Jockey, was run in the presence of King George III and Queen Charlotte, which set the tone for the Royal connections and this race.

In 1844 the race was attended by Nicholas I of Russia who was in country on a state visit. The winner of that year’s race did not have a name so it became known as The Emperor. This led to the race becoming the Emperor Plate after a new trophy the Emperor donated but it soon switched back to the Gold Cup with the start of the Crimean War.

The most successful horse in the races history was Yeats who won in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009.

The jockey with the most wins is the iconic Lester Piggott who own on 11 occasions starting in 1957 and ending in 1982.

The leading trainer is Aiden O’Brien whilst the leading owner is Sue Magnier.
The good news for fans is that you do not have to make the trip to Ascot to watch the live, you can watch the Ascot Gold Cup live online via our Gold Cup live stream partners.

Whilst there is a wagering requirement, the chances are that you are going to be betting on the race anyway so why not choose a bookie that allow you to watch the race live and to cheer on your picked horse to victory (or moan as it comes last!).
